  • A Panoramic X-Ray– is a panoramic scanning dental X-ray of the upper and lower jaw. It shows a two-dimensional view of a half-circle from ear to ear.
  • A Cephalogram X-Rayis an X-ray of the craniofacial area. A cephalometric analysis could be used as means for measuring growth in children. The lateral cephalogram is a profile x-ray of the skull and soft tissues and is used to assess the relation of the teeth in the jaws, the relation of the jaws to the skull and the relation of the soft tissues to the teeth and jaws.
  • A IntraOral Periapical X-Ray The periapical view is taken of both anterior and posterior teeth. The objective of this type of view is to capture the tip of the root on the film. This is often helpful in determining the cause of pain in a specific tooth, because it allows a dentist to visualize the tooth as well as the surrounding bone in their entirety. This view is often used to determine the need for endodontic therapy as well as to visualize the successful progression of endodontic therapy once it is initiated. It can be used in case of detection hyperdontia (supernumerary teeth) & impacted teeth.

  • A Dental Filling is a restorative material used to restore the function, integrity and morphology of missing tooth structure. The structural loss typically results from caries or external trauma. The dentist first removes the decayed tooth material, cleans the affected area, and then fills the cleaned out cavity with a filling materials include gold, porcelain, a composite resin (tooth-colored fillings), and an amalgam (an alloy of mercury, silver, copper, tin and sometimes zinc).
  • Scaling removes plaque and polishing removes stains along with remaining plaque while smoothening and shining teeth, so that dental plaque cannot attach easily to tooth surfaces. Polishing may then be followed by a fluoride gel or foam treatment to reduce post-scaling sensitivity and reduce the risk of tooth decay.

  • What is a Crown? Rightly known as the ‘king’ of restorative dentistry, a crown is a type of dental restoration which completely caps or encircles a tooth or dental implant. Crowns are often needed when a large cavity threatens the ongoing health of a tooth. They are typically bonded to the tooth using a dental cement. Crowns can be made from many materials, which are usually fabricated using indirect methods. Crowns are often used to improve the strength or appearance of teeth.
  • Bridges– bridges literally bridge the gap created by one or more missing teeth. A typical bridge is made up of two crowns (one on either side of the gap) and a false tooth/teeth in between. Bridges are attached to surrounding natural teeth or dental implants for support. The anchoring teeth are called abutment teeth and the false teeth are called pontics. Pontics can be made from porcelain, alloys, gold or a combination on materials.
  • Removable Partial Dentures usually consist of replacement teeth attached to pink or gum-coloured plastic bases. Depending on your needs, the dentist will design a partial denture for you. A partial denture may have a metal framework and clasps that connect to your teeth, or they can have other connectors that are more natural looking.

  • Surgical Teeth Extraction is also known as; Open Extraction. It is a tooth removal procedure in which surgical access is required to completely remove a tooth. Even if the tooth is visible in the mouth without surgically exposing it, surgical techniques may be necessary to remove the tooth. Extensively damaged teeth, and teeth with multiple curved roots frequently require extraction by surgical technique when removal is necessary.
  • Impacted Wisdom Tooth Extractionthis is when wisdom teeth which do not fully erupt into the mouth because of blockage from other teeth (impaction). Impacted wisdom teeth are classified by their direction of impaction, their depth compared to the biting surface of adjacent teeth and the amount of the tooth’s crown that extends through gum tissue or bone.

  • A  Pulpectomy. This is required when the entire pulp is involved (the root canal(s) of the tooth). This treatment consists of the diseased pulp tissue being completely removed from both the crown and root, maintaining healthy gums.
